USA Women’s Olympic Rugby Team – Anchorage Tour

1.  TRAINING SESSIONS

Coaches and players of Alaska Oosik Rugby Union are welcome to attend one of the practices held at The Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds thorughout next week, Monday, September 8th through Friday, September 12th.

  • Please RSVP your attendance with Ted Snider akted73@gmail.com
  • COACHES: Please RSVP and plan to attend.  Coach Ric Suggitt will spend time with coaches before and/or after practice to discuss their practice, training, drills, etc.
  • These training sessions run from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.
  •  Please remain on the West side of the rugby pitch and utilize the sideline and hills for viewing.  These are the areas closest to the parking lot.
  •  Visitors must park in the lower parking lot.  Car pool if and when possible.  No exceptions.
  •  This invitation is for coaches and players only.
  •  Remain off the pitch at all times;  Unless invited on by Coach Ric Suggitt.

 

2.  MEET & GREET

Chevrolet of South Anchorage, 9100 Old Seward Highway, will host a Meet & Greet with the team on Saturday, September 5th, from Noon to 2:00 PM.

  •  Please RSVP your attendance at akyouthrugby@gmail.com or via the Alaska Youth Rugby Club Facebook page, events.
  •  Please bring and invite your family and friends to this event for pictures, autographs, food and drink.

 

3.  YOUTH RUGBY CAMP

The Women’s Team will host and run a youth rugby camp for boys and girls of all ages, ages 4 – 18, on Saturday, September 5th, on the Delaney Park Street (at G Street).

  •  Please register at akyouthrugby.com under Olympic Youth Rugby Camp.
  •  Youth Rugby Camp is from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM.  Please arrive by 8:30 AM.
  •  Camp is non-contact.
  •  This is a great opportunity for kids you want to get involved in rugby as well as kids who are playing other sports presently but could benefit from a cross training opportunity with world class athletes.

4.  EXHIBITION MATCH

The Women’s Team will run an exhibition match of sevens rugby for the community after the youth rugby camp.

  •  Exhibition match begins at 10:30 AM.
  •  We need volunteers to help police the area, clean-up and run sideline control.  Please e-mail akyouthrugby@gmail.com if interested.

Throughout the week, the women’s team will also be visiting over 25 Anchorage elementary and middle schools.  Television spots will be provided at Chugiak High School, Mirror Lake Middle School, and Gladys Wood Elementary School.  Alev and Lorrie will also do some morning radio spots – stay tuned for more details regarding radio spots on 101.3 KGOT, 104.1 KBEAR, 106.5 KWHL and 103.7 KFQD.
